Two-step Flow Theory

The two-step flow theory is a theory where people based their opinions on high social class people/leaders where the leader based their opinions on the media. It acknowledges that communication is a more complex process. It is based on a 1940s study on social influence.

  • audiences are active and seen as part of a society
  • there's more than two steps in the flow of communication.

This correlates to my magazine because many people feel forced to look a certain way due to social media. Especially, people like Kim Kardashian who has many fans and is considered a high social class, might be peer pressuring people to look like her without her realizing it. My magazine is about fitness and the benefits of it, not so much about looking a certain way. If many people were to read my article then it will eventually grab the attention of others due to it already having an audience.
