Codes & Conventions of Magazine


  • Masthead- usually at the top of the front page; includes titles, and names of editors and writers
  • Tagline- informs you what its about and what audience it targets
  • Coverlines- insight on what the magazine is going to be about
  • Central Image- attracts the audience before they start to read
  • Cover Model- lets the reader know what the genre is based on
  • Color Scheme- sparks interest to a certain group
  • Barcode- keeps track of magazines being sold
